Assoc Director/ Director of Health Outcomes & Pharmacoeconomics

Position Summary:



The Associate Director or Director will assume day to day lead responsibility for the design and conduct of health outcomes and pharmacoeconomic (HOPE) analyses of marketed product(s) and participate in developing brand strategy .



Major Duties and Responsibilities:



· Develop pharmacoeconomic strategy across multi-disciplinary staff (Marketing, Managed Markets, Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Biostatistics)

· Evaluate phase IV clinical trials and critically appraise and recommend pharmacoeconomic and patient-reported outcome (PRO) endpoints

· Conduct and manage HOPE advisory boards

· Design and conduct economic evaluations including cost-effectiveness, cost-utility, cost consequence and burden of disease studies.

· Design and conduct decision analytic models including Markov models and simulations integrating both prospective clinical trial data and retrospective survey and insurance claims data.

· Develop budget impact models to demonstrate the value of products to managed care customers.

· Present research, including dissemination at scientific meetings and publication of original research in peer reviewed journals.

· Manage outside contract research including developing and soliciting proposals, monitoring performance against milestones, and assuring completion of contract work.

· Assist with training of internal staff on pharmacoeconomic concepts and understanding of published studies on the topic.

· Represent the views of the Department in cross-functional product teams

· Engage with policy makers when appropriate.





Requirements/Qualifications:



Education: Clinical Pharmacist or PhD in health services research, health economics or related field with industry related experience for > 4 years. Training in economic assessment of medical interventions and products.



Special Skills/Abilities: Should have strong understanding of the policy and reimbursement environment as it affects product development and commercialization. Demonstrated ability to design and conduct economic analyses of clinical trials and community based effectiveness studies relevant to policy makers. In addition to managing contracted work, candidate should be able to analyze large complex health data sets using SAS or similar software, conduct statistical analyses, use Excel, Access or other software to model cost effectiveness and create decision analysis models. Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
