The Head of Strategic Scientific and Medical Information, BioOncology Medical Affairs, will report to the Head of BioOncology Medical Affairs. He/She will provide strategic and tactical leadership for all marketed BioOncology molecule and disease projects related to integrated scientific and medical information. In addition, he/she will be a member of the senior leadership team in Medical Affairs.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
The candidate will be expected to provide strategic and tactical leadership for all aspects of BioOncology Medical Affairs activities related to outwardly focused scientific and medical information flow. This includes, though is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
* Develop and implement coordinated/integrated strategic and tactical communication plans for effectively generating, consolidating, and disseminating important scientific and medical information related to all of the BioOncology molecule projects that have a post-marketing plan
* Develop and implement effective field-based scientific and medical information plans for the Medical Director and Medical Science Liaison groups.
* Develop and implement coordinated and integrated BioOncology molecule and disease focused National, Regional, and Local Advisory Board programs
* Develop coordinated medical Information plans including publications, medical communications, scientific and medical congresses, web-based approaches, etc. to provide appropriate, and effective, non-promotional scientific and medical information to health care professionals and patients
* Develop and implement systems for medical oversight of promotional scientific and medical information to ensure effectiveness and overall coordination/consistency with non-promotional plans
* Develop coordinated strategic and tactical plans for providing appropriate and effective scientific and medical information to key managed care and guideline development organizations
* Develop and implement coordinated strategic and tactical plans for providing appropriate and effective scientific and medical information to key patient advocate groups
* Success in all of these areas will require close collaboration and consultation with key partners (individuals and groups) within the broader organization including, but not limited to, molecule lead clinical scientists, Medical Communications, Commercial Regulatory Affairs, Health Economics and Outcomes Reseaqrch, Corporate Communications Patient Advocacy, and groups in the Commercial Organization including, Advisory Board Services, Value-based Health Care, and the Managed Care Services
* Direct and indirect management of Medical Directors and field-based Medical Science Liaisons
* Work in a cross-functional/matrixed environment; working extensively with BioOncology molecule leads and other Development functions, notably
* DATA (Biostatistics, Programming)
* Medical Communications
* Commercial Regulatory Affairs
* Publication Planning and Medical Writing
* Health Economics and Outcomes Research
* Drug Safety
* Work closely with key, non-Development functions notably:
* Research
* Commercial
* Product Portfolio Management
* Corporate Communications/Advocacy groups
* As a member of the Medical Affairs Senior Leadership Team, provide important strategic and tactical inputs into both molecule and disease (breast. lung, GI, and hematologic) overall post-marketing clinical plans
Qualifications: Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
* M.D., or equivalent degree with suitable experience
* A proven leader who ideally has 3-5 years clinical/drug development experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry with a minimum of 3 years direct management experience
* Extensive experience in oncology Medical Affairs activities
* Significant experience and accomplishments with Medical Information systems
* A through understand of current and future practice patterns for common malignancies, including hematologic malignancies, and the essential elements of cancer biology
* Proven ability to effectively work in a cross-functional/matrix environment
* Demonstrated ability to positively and strategically influence employees at all levels and an accomplished record of leading cross-functional teams in a highly matrixed organization
* Strong interpersonal, influencing, presentation, and communications skills (written and verbal) to effectively address all levels within an organization
