This includes supervision of both on- and off-shore analytic resources, coordination with product teams, and procurement of any needed IT support. Advise on/determine the best analytical methods for study design for evaluating specific interventions.
2) Set direction and strategies for applying epidemiology methods and concepts to advanced analytics R&D, emphasizing the development of scalable and reusable models where applicable. Set development directions and oversee the writing of business and functional specifications for such “mass-customized” models so that they may become production operations. Oversee the development and submission of capital projects for these production operations.
3) Develop approaches, mechanisms, processes and procedures for identifying and handling complex analytic issues required by competitive needs. This includes opportunity analyses related to clinically-driven care process improvements, savings simulations. It is essential that the candidate be able to understand and contribute to the creation of value-chain of how core diseases are managed, along with the impact of gaps/defects in care upon utilization, costs, clinical processes and outcomes.
4) Lead projects or coordinate responsibilities among operational areas and IT to build these capabilities into MHS products and processes.
5) Develop and implement relevant communication and education plans for internal and external stakeholders. Present to senior stakeholders. The ability to design analyses and distill findings into publications suitable for top-tier peer-reviewed journals is a must.

Knowledge of provider contracting techniques and how these manifest in claim adjudication and downstream analyses (e.g., handling of adjustments, relationships of cost-sharing such as co-payments, coinsurance, deductibles, COB) is highly desirable. Knowledge of and experience with pharmacy claims data desirable but not essential.
3) Knowledge of and experience with major casemix classification techniques, preferably Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs), Symmetry Episode Treatment Groups (ETGs), Clinical Classification Software (CCS), and/or DxCGs. Must have used these techniques in major real-world applications and analyses.
4) Demonstrated expertise in analyzing complex medical data, both in data management, statistical analysis & modeling, and in management reporting. Extensive use of analytic programming languages like SAS is highly desirable.
5) Mastery of core epidemiologic concepts and methods, especially research design methods, is mandatory. Training and background in chronic and acute disease epidemiology is a must. Be able to explain and defend in non-technical terms the rationale and appropriateness of the methods chosen for a study’s research design, sampling, analysis plan, and targeted publications and forums.
